"Everyone's got their stage,
Everyone's got their song.
Doesn't matter what your age,
Doesn't matter if you've done wrong.

This is your life
And you deserve to take it.
Any place you want to be,
You can make it."

- I'm Gonna Make It, from our hit show I DECIDE

Imagine spending time doing the things you love.
Have more time to spend any way you like.

Danish Ahmed People see me functioning independently and often forget that I am legally blind having only 5% sight. Some people think my independence makes my blindness inconsequential; however, there are many day-to-day tasks which simply take me more time to accomplish, than it would take a sighted person.

For example, when I read a business card and transcribe the information to my computer, the print is usually too small for me to read easily. With my magnifier, I can only copy several characters at a time which of course makes it more time consuming. And when copying down e-mail addresses that are not normal English words, I often misread certain characters and my e-mails bounce. I then need to find the original card and see if I can decipher the discrepancy. This isn't always as easy as you may think. I'm a professional networker and I currently have about 6,000 business cards in my possession.

Another simple task that is daunting for me is assessing and accounting for my receipts. You know what it's like having receipts that have teeny-tiny print, are half-faded, or have obscure information? Transcribing the correct dollar amounts into my accounting software is critical to have solid financials. A simple transcription error can cost me hours of confusion and log-checking.

The way I organize my room is through memory. Indeed, I can't turn and look for something I need, because I likely won't see it. Searching and locating personal items definitely takes extra time. It's not just in my own room, but even the simplest thing of putting my coat up at a house party -- It may take me five minutes to figure out which coat is mine when I am ready to leave.

No matter how time restricted you think you are, no matter how disadvantaged you may feel in your circumstances, when you really want something, you'll find the time to get it. Because I take twice as long to do many things, I developed ways to get that time back, and then some.

Save time by not doing the things you don't need to do. Do you really need to watch TV as much as you do? Do you really need to be on the telephone for as much as you are? Do you really need to worry as much as you do? Genuinely ask questions of yourself, and watch the magic happen. You are able to check-in with yourself and at least make a choice -- often we do things out of habit and not out of choice.

Save time, by combining things you should do, with the things you love to do. Watch your favorite television program while you workout. Fold your laundry while you are chatting on the phone. Visualize your perfect day while brushing your teeth. The possibilities are endless...

Notice the people in your life that you love, and who love you. Appreciate your time with them. If you want more time to do the things that you love, then appreciate every moment and you will love the things that you do. The universe gives you less of what you want, and more of what you appreciate.

"What is it to be alive? It is to be present...
Aliveness brings with it wonder, excitement, and awe.
When we are truly being present, truly experiencing the moment,
we cannot but be in awe."
- Steve Rogers & Danish Ahmed

P.S. If you know any organization interested in hosting a workshop on Time Management, please let them know about my workshop entitled:

TIMELESS TRUTHS (in Time Management)

Are you a slave to time or is time your servant? We all have 24 hours in a day, whether we're sitting in prison, mopping floors, climbing Mount Everest, or running a country. What separates our amount of productivity is not our capability, but our organization of time. Let's learn to have time work for us. Let's learn how to multiply our time so we can spend more time doing the things we love.

In this presentation, you will learn:
  • How to effectively maximize 'dead' time
  • The distinction between priority and commitment, and how to create your life out of noticing this
  • When to delegate, how to delegate, and why delegate?
  • Which time management techniques work?
  • How to effectively integrate the activities of your life
  • What is procrastination, are you a procrastinator, and what are you doing about it?
  • How to spend time doing only what you love
